Description
Handheld, crispy bacon-wrapped beef patties filled with melted cheddar cheese, seasoned with Worcestershire sauce and spices. These savory bombs are perfect for game days, parties, or a comforting meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb 80/20 ground beef
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 12–14 slices thick-cut bacon
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently with hands to distribute seasonings evenly without overworking the meat.
- Divide the meat mixture into 12 equal portions and roll each into a tight ball, approximately the size of a golf ball.
- Lay a slice of bacon flat on a surface. Place a meat ball in the center and wrap the bacon around it, tucking the ends underneath to secure. Repeat for all portions.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
- Place the bacon-wrapped bombs in the skillet, ensuring they are not crowded. Cook in batches if necessary.
- Let the bombs sit undisturbed for 3-4 minutes to form a deep golden-brown crust on the bottom.
- Flip the bombs using tongs and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes, rotating occasionally for even browning. Total cooking time should be 10-12 minutes.
- Ensure the internal temperature of the beef reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Transfer cooked bombs to a paper towel-lined plate or wire rack to drain excess grease.
- Let the bombs rest for 2-3 minutes before serving to allow the cheese to set slightly.
- Serve immediately with your choice of dipping sauce.
Notes
Use cold cheese to prevent it from melting before the meat is cooked. Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure the bacon crisps rather than steams. For a healthier option, bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, though frying provides better crispiness.
