Description
A quick and easy copycat recipe for Texas Roadhouse Grilled Shrimp, featuring a rich garlic butter sauce and high-heat searing for restaurant-quality flavor in under 20 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 16–20 count Jumbo or Extra Large Shrimp, peeled and deveined
- Unsalted Butter
- Fresh Garlic, minced (at least 4 cloves)
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Fresh Lemon Juice (from 1 large lemon)
- Fresh Parsley, flat-leaf, chopped
- Red Pepper Flakes
- Kosher Salt
- Black Pepper
Instructions
- Thaw frozen shrimp in cold water if necessary, then pat them completely dry with paper towels. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
- In a small bowl, combine minced garlic, red pepper flakes, and chopped parsley.
- Heat a heavy skillet (cast iron or stainless steel) over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and heat until shimmering.
- Add shrimp in a single layer without crowding the pan. Cook undisturbed for 1-2 minutes until the bottom is orange-pink.
- Flip the shrimp and cook for another minute until opaque and curled into a loose ‘C’ shape.
- Reduce heat to medium. Add butter to the pan and let it melt and foam until it turns golden brown (1-2 minutes).
- Add the garlic-parsley mixture to the browned butter and stir constantly for 30 seconds, ensuring the garlic does not burn.
- Remove the pan from heat and stir in fresh lemon juice.
- Toss the shrimp in the sauce to coat evenly and serve immediately with extra sauce and garnish.
Notes
Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure proper searing. Add garlic after the butter has browned to prevent burning. If using frozen shrimp, ensure they are completely dry. For a dairy-free version, substitute butter with olive oil or vegan butter. Serve with crusty bread, rice, quinoa, or cauliflower rice.
