Pizza Burger Pie: 5-Step Easy Dinner

  • Author: caroline_hicks
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

A hybrid comfort food dish that combines the flavors of pizza and burgers using a refrigerated biscuit crust, seasoned ground beef, marinara sauce, and melted cheese, baked in a skillet for a quick and easy weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup thick marinara or pizza sauce
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices (optional)
  • 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated large biscuit dough

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Let biscuit dough sit on the counter for 5 minutes.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and break into crumbles. Cook for 5-7 minutes until browned. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  3. Stir Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper into the cooked beef. Remove from heat.
  4. Press the biscuit dough into an even layer at the bottom of an oven-safe skillet (or baking dish), ensuring no gaps.
  5. Spread the cooked burger mixture evenly over the biscuit crust.
  6. Spoon the marinara sauce over the meat, spreading it out but leaving a small border around the edges.
  7. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce. Add pepperoni slices on top if using.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden, and the crust is cooked through.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes to allow cheese to set.
  10. Cut into 8 wedges and serve warm.

Notes

For best results, use thick marinara to prevent a soggy crust. Let the pie cool for 5 minutes before slicing to ensure clean cuts. If the top isn’t browning, broil for the last 1-2 minutes. Can be assembled ahead and refrigerated, adding 5-10 minutes to baking time.
