Description

A homemade version of the iconic Big Mac burger wrapped in a toasted flour tortilla, featuring seasoned ground beef, special sauce, cheese, and crunchy toppings for a faster, less messy meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 4 large flour tortillas (10-inch)
  • 1 cup (115g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups iceberg or romaine lettuce, finely shredded
  • 1/4 cup white onion, finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, yellow mustard, white vinegar, garlic powder, and sugar until smooth. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, then refrigerate.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and break it up with a spatula. Season with salt and black pepper. Cook for 5-7 minutes until browned and no longer pink, draining excess grease.
  3. Heat a clean skillet or griddle over medium heat. Toast each tortilla for about 1 minute per side until lightly golden and pliable. Keep warm in a clean kitchen towel.
  4. Lay a toasted tortilla flat. Spread a generous layer of special sauce over the center, leaving a 1-inch border. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Add a portion of the cooked beef, followed by shredded lettuce, diced onions, and pickle relish.
  6. Fold the bottom edge up, fold in the sides, and roll tightly from the bottom up.
  7. Optional: Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the wrapped burrito seam-side down for 1-2 minutes per side until golden and crispy.

Notes

Toast the tortillas to prevent sogginess. Let the beef cool slightly before assembling to keep the lettuce crisp. The special sauce can be made up to a week in advance. Do not rinse the cooked beef with water as it removes flavor.
