Banana Chamomile Smoothie: 5-Min Calming Drink

  • Author: caroline_hicks
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

A creamy, calming smoothie made with ripe bananas, steeped chamomile tea, and Greek yogurt. This quick 5-minute drink offers a soothing floral flavor and helps unwind after a stressful day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium ripe bananas
  • 2 tablespoons dried chamomile flowers
  • 1 cup almond milk or oat milk
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup hot water (for steeping chamomile)

Instructions

  1. Peel the bananas and break them into chunks. For a thicker smoothie, freeze the banana chunks beforehand.
  2. Place the dried chamomile flowers in a small heatproof bowl. Pour 1/2 cup of hot water over them and let steep for 5 minutes to bloom the flowers.
  3. Strain the chamomile tea and let it cool completely.
  4. Add the cooled chamomile tea, almond milk, Greek yogurt, honey, vanilla extract, and ice to a blender.
  5. Add the banana chunks last to prevent them from getting stuck under the blades.
  6. Blend on low speed, gradually increasing to high, for 45-60 seconds until the mixture is completely smooth and pale yellow.
  7. Taste and adjust sweetness or thickness by adding more honey or ice as needed.
  8. Pour into tall glasses and garnish with fresh mint or a banana slice. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use ripe bananas with brown spots for maximum sweetness. Avoid using frozen chamomile tea cubes if you want the freshest flavor; freshly steeped and cooled tea is preferred. Drink within 20 minutes as chamomile oxidizes quickly. Do not freeze this smoothie as the flavor can become bitter upon thawing.
