Description
A creamy, high-protein shake that tastes like banana bread without the carbs. Made with frozen bananas, oats, and spices, this quick breakfast or post-workout snack is thick, delicious, and easy to prepare.
Ingredients
- 2 large ripe bananas (frozen)
- 2 scoops vanilla protein powder (whey or plant-based)
- 1 cup milk of choice (almond, oat, or dairy)
- 1/4 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup ice cubes (optional, if bananas aren’t frozen)
- 1 tsp maple syrup or honey (optional, for sweetness)
Instructions
- Peel bananas, break into chunks, and freeze them until solid.
- Add dry oats to the blender and pulse until they turn into a fine flour.
- Pour in milk, vanilla extract, and liquid sweetener (if using).
- Add protein powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and frozen banana chunks.
- Blend on high speed for 45-60 seconds until thick and creamy, scraping down sides as needed.
- Taste and adjust consistency with more milk or sweetness if desired.
- Pour into a tall glass and serve immediately.
Notes
For the best texture, use frozen bananas to avoid watering down the shake with ice. Blend the oats first into a flour to ensure a smooth, bread-like consistency. If using fresh bananas, add ice cubes. This shake is best consumed immediately but can be stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours; shake well before drinking as it will thicken.
